Do you treat children with EFT/Matrix Reimprinting?2019-08-23T13:55:28+00:00

Yes, from school age, but please get in touch to discuss.

How do you treat children with EFT / Matrix Reimprinting?2019-08-23T13:58:55+00:00
EFT Teddy

Depends on age and cognitive abilities.

It may be exactly the same as for adults, e.g., they may tap on themselves while sharing feelings.

For younger children, a surrogate approach can be really successful, using a teddy bear with buttons/beads that the child may tap whilst thinking about or sharing what’s troubling them. And this is something you can create for them at home too!

How long is an EFT / Matrix Reimprinting session?2019-08-23T12:43:49+00:00

The default is one hour, but open to discuss other durations.

Is EFT tapping painful?2019-08-23T12:45:50+00:00

No, it’s very gentle. Also, you will usually tap on yourself in traditional EFT sessions (mirroring the practitioner).

Do I need to re-live/re-experience difficult memories or emotions in an EFT / Matrix Reimprinting treatment?2019-08-23T12:58:57+00:00

To some extent is the short answer. However, EFT and Matrix Reimprinting has got tools to avoid re-traumatisation.

EFT usually works directly with memories and feelings (physical or emotional). However, there are several gentle techniques as part of EFT that are used particularly with traumatic experiences to ensure clients feel safe and comfortable, and can address things little by little, as required.

With Matrix Reimprinting, we would work directly with memories, but you essentially become empowered to be your own therapist, staying emotionally dissociated from the event you may be working on. So, whilst you would be revisiting a memory, you would not be re-experiencing the difficult emotions that may be associated with it.

In a single treatment, both EFT and Matrix Reimprinting may be used. You are in control. You won’t be pushed to go somewhere you are not comfortable. You are supported and a safe space is held for you. To give an example, one approach is to take the edge off some of the difficult feelings with EFT gentle techniques, and then do Matrix Reimprinting.

Do I need to share personal information about my issues or difficult events to be treatable with EFT / Matrix Reimprinting?2019-08-23T13:11:15+00:00

EFT and Matrix Reimprinting is not talk therapy. However, some degree of sharing is necessary, especially to ensure that the practitioner can do their best to treat you safely.

Rest assured that anything you share is kept confidential, and it is natural that you will only share and work on things that you are ready to work on. Trust-building in the therapeutic relationship is important, so you are not expected to share everything in the first session!

Some people may even be surprised that they are encouraged to share (talk) less, to be able to focus on what’s relevant and sufficient for the treatment.

Can EFT or Matrix Reimprinting help if I feel emotionally numb?2019-08-23T13:19:33+00:00

Yes (!) is the short answer.

Matrix Reimprinting actually works by being emotionally dissociated, so it lends itself really well for such cases. That said, traditional EFT can also work, because as soon as you start tapping, you may tune into feelings and relevant memories may surface.

Are you qualified to handle serious trauma?2020-04-05T20:39:08+00:00

Great question! You should feel comfortable and assured that you’re in safe hands if you have serious trauma you feel ready to address.

I (Vegard) am not a psychologist, for example. EFT and Matrix Reimprinting training does specifically address the topic of trauma. I have foundation level qualifications in mental health conditions, for both adults and children/young people, and have undergone additional CPD training on the topic as well.

So, whilst I have the tools to address serious trauma, I encourage you to get in touch and we can both get a feel for whether we feel like a good fit, because the last thing I would want is for you to take the brave step to address trauma with somebody and then have detrimental experience doing so.

Are remote treatments as effective as face-to-face (in person) treatments?2020-04-05T20:38:57+00:00

It seems so is the short answer.

There has been research on the topic, but most of that has been on traditional EFT in person vs over the phone. This was before Skype and Zoom video conferencing became commonplace, and even over the phone, successful treatments were reported.

Some people even prefer remote treatments. You can be in the comfort of your own home. You save time. You may feel more at ease.

When can I expect to feel a difference from an EFT / Matrix Reimprinting treatment?2019-08-23T13:43:55+00:00

When addressing a specific memory and emotion/feeling, you will usually feel a difference immediately.

That said, most symptoms stem from several things that we need to address through multiple sessions.

Your next question will inevitably be – how many sessions?

That will depend on so many factors. However, to give an example, with the use of a basic EFT approach in research on PTSD for war veterans in the USA, close to 90% were free of PTSD symptoms after 6-10 EFT treatments.

EFT has the potential of being more effective still with more advanced and tailored techniques to each individual, as can Matrix Reimprinting.

However, each individual is different and we cannot make any promises. But if you don’t feel a difference after a few sessions, EFT and Matrix Reimprinting may not be the ticket for you (at this point in time).

Do the effects of EFT / Matrix Reimprinting treatments last?2019-08-23T13:46:20+00:00

Yes, the effects of treatments should last indefinitely.

That doesn’t mean that there aren’t other triggers for your symptoms that we may not have addressed. But if we have done a full EFT / Matrix Reimprinting session on a particular memory/event/person/etc., and you feel neutral / happy about it at the end of a treatment, there’s no reason that will change after you go home or even after 10 years.

What should I wear for a massage treatment?2018-03-24T21:22:21+00:00

As a Holistic Massage treatment is performed directly on the skin using massage oils, only comfortable underwear is worn for whole-body massages. The body is covered by towels to ensure client dignity at all times, and only the area worked on is exposed.

How long is a massage treatment?2018-03-25T17:36:47+00:00

It depends on you and the kind of massage you would like. It is tailored to your needs. The duration for a full body massage is typically 90 minutes and 30 minutes for focusing on particular areas like a shoulder and neck massage.

For the first session, additional time is needed for the initial client consultation, which typically takes about 30 minutes.

What’s the difference between Swedish Massage and Holistic Massage?2018-03-25T08:47:54+00:00

For most people they may seem pretty much the same, especially as the traditional Swedish Massage is typically practiced a bit differently nowadays. In the past, a traditional Swedish Massage would use talcum powder instead of oil. Both types of massage use similar techniques: effleurage (long, gliding strokes), petrissage (lifting and kneading the muscles), friction (firm, deep, circular rubbing movements), tapotement (brisk tapping or percussive movements), and vibration (rapidly shaking or vibrating specific muscles).

Holistic Massage shares a history in Swedish Massage, being heavily influenced by the “Ling System” developed by a Swede called Per Henrik Ling in the 19th century. The Ling System itself was influenced by what Per Henrik learned about Chinese Medical Massage, so historically speaking, it goes back to about 3000BC.

Where Holistic Massage differs from Swedish Massage is in the aim of treating the whole person in terms of body, mind and spirit. The term ‘holistic’ is derived from the word ‘holos’, which means ‘whole’.  What this means in practice is that a consultation will look at lifestyle factors affecting the health of the client, like diet, work and hobbies, and that the treatments are tailored to the needs of the client. As such, no two treatments may be the same.

What kind of clothes should I wear for an NKT treatment?2018-03-26T10:08:55+00:00

Loose and comfortable is important as sessions involve functional movement screening, checking range of movement of joints. As such, please avoid denim jeans, business attire or skirts as it limits assessment.

How long is an NKT treatment?2018-03-26T10:08:18+00:00

Approximately 1 hour. However, for clients with particular circumstances where this is either too long or too short, this can be adapted.

For the first session, additional time is needed for the initial client consultation, which typically takes about 30 minutes.

How long will it take before I can expect to feel a difference from the NKT treatments?2018-03-26T10:09:48+00:00

Usually, clients feel a positive difference already after the first session. Further benefits may be felt in the coming week after conducting homework. However, for longer term issues, it may take about 4-5 visits before significant improvements are experienced.

How long do results of NKT treatments usually last?2018-03-24T21:27:29+00:00

The results should be permanent unless the underlying reasons are ongoing physical or emotional stress, or lifestyle patterns such as sitting too much or other repetitive movements. In such case, potential positive changes will be discussed to help ensure clients experience long-term benefit.

Do I need to do home exercises (homework) after NKT treatments?2018-03-26T10:49:30+00:00

Yes. In fact, it’s essential for getting the long-term benefits of the treatment. Otherwise, your body will just go back to the same old pattern.

This is why it’s useful to view an NKT practitioner (or any practitioner for that matter) as somebody who helps facilitate the changes you wish to make in your life. There are few, if any, magic solutions that can “fix you” without you needing to do anything.

What kind of home exercises (homework) can I expect after an NKT treatment?2018-03-26T10:51:02+00:00

Almost all NKT homework is in the form of 1) releasing something and 2) activating something else. Depending on how significant the corrections in an NKT treatment are, there could be multiple parts to the homework. NKT homework may also include breathing drills like supine 90 90 breathing with specific cues for you.

Example multi-part homework:

  • 1 minute stretch of anterior (front) neck muscles. 5-10 repetitions of gentle abdominal exercise.
  • Supine 90-90 breathing exercise.
  • 1 minute self-massage or stretching of calf muscle. 5-10 repetitions of gentle gluteus activation exercise.
How long does it take to do home exercises (homework) after NKT treatments?2018-03-26T10:52:13+00:00

The home exercises are typically very short and gentle. In most cases it’s approximately 5 minutes 2-3 times a day for a week or two.

Do I need any equipment for doing home exercises (homework) after NKT treatments?2018-03-26T10:58:16+00:00

Typically not, but it can be helpful when it’s difficult to self-massage or stretch an area yourself. You’ll get suggestions for every-day things around your home that could be used (e.g., door frames, books, tennis balls, chairs, etc.). But, should equipment be useful, here’s some things you may benefit from:

Please note that we cannot recommend specific products and take responsibility for their quality, etc. The examples above are just that. Examples. Clients are responsible to judge for themselves whether the products they may choose to purchase is of good quality and value for money, etc.

Can I get in touch and ask questions after an NKT treatment if anything is unclear or I’m not sure how to do my homework?2018-03-26T12:22:06+00:00

Yes, most definitely! Your care goes beyond the treatment sessions. Hopefully you will feel supported and won’t hesitate to get in touch if you need to. We also typically reach out to you to hear how you’re going on.

How long is a Reiki treatment?2018-03-26T10:10:22+00:00

Approximately 1 hour. However, for clients with particular circumstances where this is either too long or too short, this can be adapted.

For the first session, additional time is needed for the initial client consultation, which typically takes about 30 minutes.

What kind of clothes should I wear for a Reiki session?2018-03-24T21:28:37+00:00

Loose and comfortable is best, but it doesn’t really matter. If needed, a blanket will be available for warmth and comfort.
