Treatments During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Due to the national lock-down, in-person treatments are currently not possible. However, remote treatments online are still possible!

As an insured, professional, therapeutic organisation, in-person treatments are possible at Ephemeral Energy. However, due to the risks of viral transmission, some changes are required.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to eliminate risk of transmission of the COVID-19 / SARS-Cov-2 virus. Therefore, if you are in, or living with someone in, a vulnerable group then the advice at the moment is to isolate and not come for in-person treatment.

If you have previously been exposed to the SARS-Cov-2 virus and been symptom-free for 14 days, (particularly if you have had a positive antibody test) then we can probably see you, so please get in touch to discuss your specific circumstances.

At Ephemeral Energy, we are taking all sensible precautions to minimise the risk of transmission to the best of our ability.  However, given the nature of the virus, there is an inherent risk of becoming infected with COVID-19 by virtue of proceeding with in-person treatment. Therefore, your attendance will indicate that you understand this and are prepared to take that responsibility.

Overview of Key Changes

While disinfecting therapeutic equipment has been common practice at Ephemeral Energy, there are additional measurements put in place to reduce risk of viral transmission.

  1. Clients must wear a face mask.
  2. The therapist must wear a face shield.
  3. Clients must also use disinfectant hand gel before commencing treatment (the therapist will have this available).
  4. Clients and therapists are responsible for arranging & using their own water (as hydration during treatments are important).
  5. Clients must not bring anybody else to treatments, unless otherwise discussed and agreed.
  6. Clients must not arrive early for appointments, as time between appointments is necessary to do the appropriate cleaning and airing of the premises.
  7. Except for massage treatments, there will no longer be fabric covers on the therapy coach/table and bolsters (if used); just disposable paper. The vinyl surface of the therapy coach/table and bolsters will be disinfected between each client and new paper used.
  8. Payments will only be taken via card (or contactless payment); no exchange of physical monies will be accepted.

If You Develop COVID-19 Symptoms

If you are feeling unwell with COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with someone such that you should be self-isolating, you must not attend in-person treatments until the quarantine period has passed. A remote video appointment may be appropriate as an alternative. 

A late cancellation fee will not be charged in these circumstances, but please do give as much notice as possible as with reduced patient capacity, late cancellations are hard to manage.

If you develop symptoms in the week following an appointment, please let us know ASAP as we may need to close the practice for in-person treatments as a preventative measure to reduce the risk of viral transmission.

Treatments at Our Premises

Please note that the points in the above sections apply.

If you are coming to our premises for a treatment, it will be much like before if you have had a previous treatment. In case you have note, here’s an overview:

  • As you enter the property, you need to ring the doorbell to the building to be let in.
  • Our premise is at the top floor, so you will have 3 doors to go through.
  • When you enter our premise, you can take your shoes off inside the door (leave on shoe rack).
  • Please bring any jacket, bags, etc., with you into the main space for treatment where you can put them on the leather sofa (which will have no pillows), as this can be cleaned effectively between client visits.
  • Should you need the toilet, this is to the right as you enter our premise and will have a fresh towel after every client, as well as having cleaned both the toilet and wash basin / sink.
  • Note that we cannot offer you water, so please bring a bottle of water to the treatment!

Treatments at Clients’ Premises

Please note that the points in the above sections apply.

As this is an environment we have no control over, we ask that you consider the following the ensure both parties are as safe as possible.

  • Keep a clean and open space for where the treatment should be.
  • Ventilate the space before and after treatment.
  • Depending on type of treatment, consider that the therapist may need somewhere to place/keep:
    • Shoes and jacket
    • Therapy coach and the bag to transport it (out of way from the treatment), if Kinesiology or Massage Therapy treatment
    • A bag for therapeutic equipment
    • Somewhere to place a water bottle and disinfectant gel
    • Somewhere to sit if an Energy Psychology treatment
    • Clean the space appropriately after treatment to reduce risk of transmission as the virus can linger on for several days on different types of surfaces.

Treatment-Specific Changes / Considerations

EFT / Matrix Reimprinting

  • Where possible, clients should do the tapping themselves (therapist will mirror and tap with).
  • If the therapist helps with tapping, points on the face will be omitted.


  • Given the changes discussed above, muscle testing should not present a significant risk of viral transmission. However, the therapist can conduct surrogate muscle testing to avoid touching clients, if this is desired.

NeuroKinetic Therapy

  • Muscle testing and release work does require the therapist touching clients, but this should not present a significant risk of viral transmission given the mitigating mechanisms discussed above.
  • The therapist will not touch the face of clients; but for work on the head, clients can do everything themselves with guidance. This includes cranium, jaw (TMJ), mouth, eyes, and hyoid (throat).

Massage Therapy

  • Massage of the face will not be possible until further notice.
